We decided to hike up there for one night and camp. We got there around 7pm and hiked to the summit. The sun set was supposed to be for 8pm. We had plenty of time to get up there, set up our tent, and walk around before the sunset.

The Hike

This is what the sign will look like when in the parking lot before you pick your trial. There are two trails that you can take to the summit. As shown below, you'll see these two signs on either side of you.

You have two options. The trail to the left is only .3 miles. It is the 1.4 mile loop to the summit and back down. It is the easier of the two and the one that we took. The other also leads to the summit but it is .4. It is part of the 2.4 mile loop and can also connect you to the Appalchian Trail.

Watching the sunset was absolutely breathtaking and beautiful. There was tons of people up there though so it was pretty crowded but thankfully most left once the sun had set.

The sunrise was pretty neat too...

Our tent broke at six in the morning. We were using a very old tent and one of the poles was broken but we decided to use it anyways. It was kind of awful to wake up to our collapsed tent but it was worth everything.
